The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife raised the bag limit for wild geese to five, according to the recently published regulations.

Other changes this year include making deer management permits valid on all state land, up to the county bag limit. Additionally, the department declared a disease surveillance area in Wyandot and Marion counties, while it lifted the disease surveillance area in Holmes and Tuscarawas counties. Active duty military and veterans can partner with youth to hunt waterfowl during the special waterfowl season, which lasts from Oct. 2 to Oct. 3, according to the ODNR website.

The ODNR also revised some fishing regulations, removing special regulations for walleye, sauger, and saugeye in the Sandusky River and Sandusky Bay. The statewide rules for channel catfish regulations at lakes less than 700 acres has also been eliminated, as has the Lake Erie Charter Fishing license. One-day licenses for all public waters are still available.
