Barbie Page, the wife of a military man, wanted to create a business she could move from town to town. On Saturday, Sept. 18, her home décor store will have a family festival to give back to a community she doesn’t want to leave.

Page is the owner of Prim-Tiques, a farm-style country store at 24737 New Guilford, just east from the traffic light in Martinsburg. She has been at the location for six years and in business for 11. Page operated stores in various locations in Pennsylvania and another store in Newark. Now she calls Martinsburg home.

“I got involved in this business because my husband is military and I wanted something that I wouldn’t have to leave when we moved,” Page said. “So I opened a home décor company. We ended up in Martinsburg, and now I want to give back to the community and surrounding areas because they’re just so good to us.”

The fall festival will run from noon to 4 p.m. and feature activities such as a hay maze, face painting, pumpkin painting and a balloon dart game. There also will be giveaways for kids and a photographer on hand to take photos of families throughout the grounds. Décor items will be randomly given away and available for purchase. Hot dogs, chips and water are available for donation. Special guests at the events will be the dogs and cats on show from the Licking County Humane Society.

“We usually have a fall open house each year,” Page said. “This year, we wanted to make a visit to our store a memorable one.”

Each of the vendors who sell products at the store has donated something for a raffle that will take place. Funds collected from the sale of raffle tickets will be given to the Licking County Humane Society. The Prim-Tiques Facebook page has details on the raffle items and how to purchase tickets.

Page said she and her husband, Earl, plan to remain in Martinsburg until retirement in about four years.

“We’ll move once we get older and need warmer weather,” she said. “But that’s going to be a while.”
