The 1834 Midway Tavern in Centerburg will have a series of activities Sept. 24-25 to benefit Jason and Teresa Harter, the owners of the tavern, who were in a very serious accident on June 25 when going home from the USA Days Festival.
Teresa lost part of her left index finger, had several broken ribs, had fluid in her lungs and underwent surgery to repair the ribs. Jason was more seriously injured when his left arm was crushed and mangled as the vehicle rolled over it several times before pinning it. He spent almost two months in the hospital and endured 17 surgeries with more still to come. Both are at home now, still recovering, with medical caregivers treating Jason at home.
The mounting bills are staggering. This led a number of local residents to plan activities to raise funds to help with these medical expenses. These two days of events will be held at 1834 Tavern, which is on the corner of Clayton and Houck streets, across from the Post Office.
On Friday evening, Sept. 24, locals Melissa Gerren Boggs and Patrick Boggs will be performing a Fleetwood Mac tribute with other covers as well. Melissa is well-known for her voice, so much like Stevie Nicks. There will be a 50-50 drawing that night as well.
Saturday, Sept. 25, will be an all-day event. Starting at noon will be the guitar and singing stylings by Brian Panke, who also performed at the USA Days last June.
At 2 p.m., Tim Oliver will also be singing and playing guitar. He is half of T & T Duo.
At 6 p.m., area country star Alan Carl will perform. He has garnered quite a following in the central Ohio region.
Finally, at 8 p.m., Rumspringa, a heavy metal rock band, will take the stage. Consisting of Matt Warren on vocals, Cody Schredengost on lead guitar, Jimmy Weaver on bass guitar and Tristan Woodruff on drums, the band will play the best of the '70s and '80s rock.
On that evening, there will be an auction of gifts and a 50-50 drawing as well.
