MOUNT VERNON – Rita K. (Greer) Beck, 84, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
She was born July 16, 1937, in Danville to the late Fordyce and Bonnie (Green) Greer. She worked 20 years at Gordon Rupp in Mansfield, 10 years at the RG Beer Construction Co., and 12 years for Robertson Truck Sales of Mount Vernon.
Rita enjoyed playing piano and singing, spending time with their grandchildren, and the times her and her husband spent traveling out west when her sons were in the service. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses of Shelby.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert “Bob” Beck of Mount Vernon, whom she married Oct. 24, 1980; four sons, Joseph D. Beck of Ashland, Michael K. Beck of Wooster, Robert L. Beck of Greenwich, and James P. Beck (DeeDee) of Canton; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Anita Lapina of Rittman; and special friends Debbie Armstrong of Fredericktown and Kay Ringwalt of Danville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Noah Beck; a granddaughter, Andrea Beck; a brother, Larry Greer; a sister-in-law, Mary Greer; two daughters-in-law, Denise Beck and Amy Beck; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harland and Mary Beck.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Chaplain Randy Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Visit www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
