Ian Reardon is returning to the Steen Aquatics Center as an assistant coach of the Kenyon College Lords and Ladies swimming and diving teams.
Reardon, a native of Upper Arlington, graduated from the school in 2017 and notched an impressive resume of experience at both the collegiate and high school levels.
The move gives the head coaching staff another alumnus member, as head coach Jess Book graduated from the school in 2001 and senior assistant coach Fernando Rodriguez a part of the class of 2004.
Reardon will be coaching his younger sister, Erin Reardon, as she became a member of the Kenyon College Ladies swim team in 2020. Reardon’s brother, Colin Reardon, also swam for the school.
Reardon began his coaching journey as a Volunteer Assistant at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts after graduating Kenyon with degrees in psychology and philosophy.
Reardon also worked as head coach of the Longmeadow High School swimming and diving programs during that time period.
In addition, he was the aquatics director at Pine Knoll Recreation Area in East Longmeadow, Mass., for over a year beginning in 2018 and followed that up as the assistant swimming and diving coach, as well as aquatics director, at Brandeis University during the 2019-20 season.
During his time at Kenyon, Reardon was a member of two NCAA Division III Championship teams and amassed career achievements that included a dozen All-America awards and a 2016 individual national title in the 200-yard breaststroke.
In 2016, he was the College Swimming Conference Swimmer of the Week for the week of Nov. 21, named to the College Swimming Preseason All-America team and a CSCAA Scholar All-American.
Reardon’s title-winning swim time (1:57.78) is still a Kenyon record.
