The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has announced more state tournament venues for this upcoming school year and beyond.

The previous 2020-21 school year and the COVID-19 pandemic had OHSAA switch several of the customary venues for state tournaments.

OHSAA Executive Director Doug Ute said he was looking forward to playing tournaments in the new venues.

“We are very excited to announce these state tournament venues because of the experience they will give our student-athletes, schools and communities,” Ute said. “We would like to thank all those who operate these venues and have an important part in these partnerships and support of high school sports in Ohio.”

OHSAA announced that the wrestling tournament will again be held at the Schottenstein Center at The Ohio State University for the next three years, with a possibility for a two-year extension.

The wrestling event will use many portions of the arena, which include the warm-up gymnasium.

The Schottenstein Center is one of the few venues in the state with the ability to hold nine mats on the arena floor, a factor that led to the expansion of the state tournament in 2000.

The wrestling tournament is slated to begin March 11, 2022, and conclude that Sunday evening.

In volleyball, the state tournament is headed back to the Nutter Center at Wright State University in Dayton. The venue, capable of holding 11,200 fans, has hosted the event since 1991 except for last year, when the event was moved to Vandalia Butler High School.

In golf, the venues of Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus and NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury will host the event over the next two years.

OHSAA also announced that the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason will host the girls and boys tennis state tournaments for the following three years.

The field hockey tournament will stay at Thomas Worthington High School, the site of last year’s tournament. Previously, Upper Arlington High School had hosted the event since 2002.
