MOUNT VERNON – Knox County Park District summer intern Elizabeth Dyke will lead a Storybook Trail Read and Hike adventure next Wednesday from 8-10 a.m.
The event is scheduled at the Storybook Trail of Wolf Run Regional Park, 17621 Yauger Road.
Take in the scenery of the park while reading featured story “Old Rock (is not boring)” by Deb Piluti. The story unfolds as “Old Rock” has been sitting in the same spot in the pine forest for as long as anyone can remember. Spotted Beetle, Tall Pine and Hummingbird think just sitting there must be boring, but they are in for an adventure.
This program is optimal for younger children who are accompanied by an adult. Upon departure of the storybook trail, scan the QR code to sign the Park District guest book and receive a complimentary Round Hill Dairy ice cream coupon. Each entry is also eligible for a prize drawing of a featured book title given each month.
The storybook trail was designed by the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County through a grant from the Knox County Foundation. Other partners involved with the trail include Paragraphs Bookstore and the Knox County Park District. The trail opened to the public on June 24, 2020.
Wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking. The program is weather-dependent, so please contact the Knox County Park District to inquire if conditions seem unfavorable at 740-392-7275.
