The Knox County Pride Alliance launched its social media pages July 16.
"This group will fill a substantial gap in social services by ensuring that LGBTQ+ people in Knox County have the information to access vital social, health care, and legal resources throughout the county and beyond." a Knox County Pride Alliance press release said.
The grassroots group has plans to organize as a 501(c)3 nonprofit and be incorporated by this fall. Along with filing all of the requisite paperwork to accomplish that, co-founders are also working to find a fiscal sponsor for the group.
Going forward, the KCPA will be run by a board of directors, all of whom will be volunteers, invested and involved in the work of connecting the LGBTQ+ community of Knox County and the surrounding area with information and resources.
Information about the KCPA is available on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn under the handle @KnoxCountyPrideAlliance.
