On June 24-27, the National Waco Biplane annual reunion was held in Mount Vernon, the 39th to be held at Wynkoop Airport. The 2020 reunion had been canceled due to the pandemic.

"We are blessed as this reunion of old 1930 model biplanes has seldom been held anywhere else in America," said Brian Wynkoop, owner of the airport, in a press release.

Wynkoop considered the 2021 reunion a big success, noting 29 different WACO aircraft models participated. The most in the past totaled 59.

He contributed that success to volunteers working countless hours and several businesses making donations to make it possible. Notably were local pilots Ron Frank, Kim Rose, John and Tena Sheppard, Bill Glick, Phil Douglas, Mark Douglas, and Doug Parsons and family; also Peacock Water donated bottled water, and Rob Kuhlman and family used their hay equipment.

Wynkoop could not be present for the event due to his surgery at Mount Carmel/St. Ann's Hospital, but as of July 1, he was finishing his therapy at The Ohio Eastern Star Home's Moreland-Hughes Rehabilitation Center.
