MOUNT VERNON – Please join us, MTVarts, July 10-18 as we celebrate our return to the stage. We have not been in the Memorial since September 2020, and now the time has come to be together again.

The curtain goes up on a cast of 47 talented actors accompanied by a live orchestra under the direction of Dr. Dane Heuchemer. Director Bruce Jacklin and Music Director Diane Dingler head the production team of 38 professionals and volunteers working diligently to mount “The Sound of Music.” You will not be disappointed.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at Park National Bank Downtown Office at One South Main, online at MTVarts.com, or at the door one hour prior to curtain.

Before or after each show, you will have a chance to participate in a raffle ($1/ticket) to take home a beautiful sculpture piece ($240 value) by Artisan Rebecca Sigler. “The Sound of Mice” is the second fundraiser Rebecca has created to benefit MTVarts. The first sculpture was “The Mice of Oz” in 2019. Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Lion and the Scarecrow were on the Yellow Brick Road on their way to Oz.

This year's sculpture has the “Von Mousetrapp” family in their traveling clothes, on a mountaintop, fleeing Austria after their winning performance at the Austrian Musical Festival. All proceeds will benefit MTVarts and Kudos Art Co-op. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn during the final performance Sunday, July 18. Working together to support the arts in Mount Vernon.
