HOWARD – Ruby Marie Hayden, 97, of Pigeon Roost Road died peacefully at her home on July 7, 2021.

Marie was born Sept. 26, 1923, to the late Virgil “Bud” and Ruby (Cameron) Haxton in Holmes County, Ohio. She was married to Rodney V. Hayden on June 17, 1944.

Marie and Rodney operated a dairy farm in Knox County in the 1950s and 1960s. She worked as secretary to the principal at Amity High School in the 1960s. Marie also worked as secretary to the treasurer at Kenyon College in the 1960s.

Surviving are a son, James V. Hayden of Howard; granddaughters, Jennie L. (Hayden) Woodard of Zanesville and Jammi L. (Hayden) Lepley of Columbus; great-grandsons, Hayden and Jay Woodard; and a brother, Owen Haxton of California.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney V. Hayden; and her son, John E. Hayden.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 10, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville where services will begin at 12 p.m.  with Dr. Marshall Hayden officiating.
