MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival (MVMAF) is back for 2021, and the schedule of experiences is rich with variety. It all begins with a special fundraising kickoff concert on Aug. 12.

Highlights of this year’s event were announced in a Facebook Live video in May, but specifics are now taking shape. MVMAF will partner with the Woodward Opera House to host a dinner concert with the Cleveland Keys Dueling Pianos on Thursday, Aug, 12. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Ticket reservations for both the floor and balcony are now available at www.mvmaf.org/clevelandkeys.

Friday through Sunday, the Festival will stage Chalk the Block on South Main Street from Vine to Gambier streets, while the Kids’ Zone will stage from Gambier Street to Ohio Avenue. Sunday features a Car and Motorcycle Cruise-In. Attendees can also enjoy sculpted air balloon art inside the first floor of the Woodward Opera House.

The main music stage will move to the North Main end of the Square, featuring Knox County’s own Six Miles to Nellie on Friday night and regional favorite Phil Dirt and the Dozers on Saturday evening. 2021 also brings the return of the youth showcase and the cheerleading competition, plus a variety of food trucks and artisans. New this year is a festival challenge of wood, pianos and chairs, on display at the ballroom of the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel, with an auction of selected items on Saturday.

MVMAF hours for 2021 are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13 and 14, and Sunday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stay updated at the website, mvmaf.org, and on Facebook by searching Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival.
