MOUNT VERNON – The Ariel Foundation has awarded its engineering scholarships for the 2021–22 academic year.  

Recipients Delora Allen, Sean Badger, Garrett Hughes and Adam Temple have been awarded the Tom Rastin Engineering Scholarship; and Jonah Burson, Johnathan Crow, Joshua Gaddis, Sarah Lord and Ian Whitaker were awarded the James P. Buchwald Engineering Scholarship.

Delora Grace Allen is a 2020 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and is attending the University of Akron for a chemical engineering degree. She is the daughter of Donald and Delora Kae Allen.

Sean Badger, a fourth-time recipient of an Ariel Foundation engineering scholarship, is pursuing a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Dayton. A graduate of Mount Vernon High School, he is the son of Keith and Deanna Badger.

Jonah Burson graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2020 and is a junior at Ohio Northern University in the mechanical engineering program. He is the son of Todd and Christine Burson.

Johnathan Crow is a 2019 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and is attending The Ohio State University for a mechanical engineering degree. He is the son of David and Robyn Crow.

Joshua Gaddis is a second-time recipient of an Ariel Foundation engineering scholarship and graduated from Fredericktown High School in 2019. A mechanical engineering student at the University of Akron, he is the son of Trent and Nicole Gaddis.

Garrett Hughes attended Danville High School and graduated in 2018. He currently attends the University of Cincinnati and is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Kyle and Val Hughes.

Sarah Lord, a second-time recipient of an Ariel Foundation engineering scholarship, is pursuing a chemical engineering degree at The Ohio State University. A graduate of Mount Vernon High School, she is the daughter Stefanie Lord.

Adam Temple is a 2020 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and is studying chemical engineering at Miami University. He is the son of Stephanie Temple.

Ian Whitaker graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2020 and is a senior at Bowling Green State University in the mechanical engineering program. He is the son of Michael and Amy Whitaker.
