MOUNT VERNON – Victor L. Payne, 77, of Mount Vernon, passed away on June 11, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on Feb. 27, 1944, to Victor and Virginia (Potes) Payne Sr. in Mount Vernon.
Victor was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Vietnam, and a retired truck driver.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shelly Payne; his children, Terry L. Payne of Xenia and Ginny L. Payne (Chad) of Mount Vernon; granddaughter, Cheyenne Goslin of Mount Vernon; a brother, Van L. Payne of Mount Vernon; a niece, Wendy Brouillard of Port Henry, New York; an Army brother, John Aller of Mishawaka, Indiana; the Thomas family; and many other extended family members.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Thomas Piper, David McMillian and Donald Anderson.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. – noon on June 15 at the Lasater Funeral Home, with a funeral service at noon. Graveside services will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
