MOUNT VERNON – Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kinton of Mount Vernon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 30 by renewing their vows and reaffirming their faith.

The service was held at Fredericktown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Hasley officiating, exactly 50 years from the date they were married.

Mr. Kinton and the former (Ellen) Sue Houle Bonar were united in marriage on April 30, 1971, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Wells officiating.

They have two children, Kristi Kinton of Mount Vernon and Shane (Aja) Kinton of Mansfield, and five grandchildren.

Tom worked at Gorman-Rupp Industries in Bellville for 38 years. Sue was a proud wife and mother. She also worked at The Living Center and Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

They enjoy spending time together whatever they are doing. Some of their most memorable travels were taking cruises, traveling to California and Mexico. They both love spending time at the ocean and have made several trips to Florida, Virginia Beach and Myrtle Beach.

Their biggest blessings are their children and grandchildren, being healthy and getting to celebrate their 50th anniversary together.

Because of COVID-19, they chose to hold a private service and have their renewal service videoed by Brian Hassel so they could share it with family and friends. The video of their renewal service as well as a video highlighting their 50 years together can be viewed on Tom Kinton’s Facebook page.
