DKMM Solid Waste District offers residential hazardous waste collection events

The DKMM Solid Waste District, Knox County Recycling & Litter Prevention and Opportunity Knox are providing hazardous waste collection events. The collections will be held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment.

Accepted items include adhesives, automotive fluid, batteries, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, household chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, insecticides), mercury, paint and paint-related materials, propane cylinders (20 pounds or less) and radioactive smoke alarms.

The cost will be $1 per pound and the rest of the cost will be covered by DKMM.

Call 740-393-4600 to schedule. The collection is open to all Knox County residents with I.D. No businesses, governments or institutions.
