MOUNT VERNON – David Lee Graves, 74, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on May 16, 1946, in Mount Vernon to the late William and Bernice (Hood) Graves.
David retired from Weyerhauser in Mount Vernon. He appreciated the outdoors his entire life and enjoyed hunting and fishing. David was always someone who put his family first and was always there for them when needed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria J. (Bailes) Graves, whom he married on July 18, 1966; daughters, Tracy Graves and Lisa (Allen Moore) Burson; son, Travis (Janice) Graves; five grandchildren, Jordan Burson, Ethan Burson, David Burson, Matthew Thompson and Henry Graves; a sister, Susie (Ed) Patton of Lafayette, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley McPeek, Jeanette Lahrman, Anna Oswalt and Charlotte “Chotsie” Cline; and brothers, Billy and Rodney Graves.
A private service was held at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, and burial followed the service in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.
