MOUNT VERNON – Centerburg’s Chloe Goulter, who won a pair of individual events, was named the girls Most Valuable Competitor in the 2021 Mount Vernon News SpecTRACKular, which was held at Yellow Jacket Stadium on Friday, May 7.

Goulter was first in the 100-meter (13.10 seconds) and 200-meter (27.06). She was also second in the long jump at 16 feet, 10 inches. That jump was the longest ever by a Centerburg girl.

“I was hoping to PR in the long jump,” Goulter said. “I wanted to break the school record again and I did it.”

Goulter’s performance came between intermittent showers on a cool, breezy evening; but the brief rains were not enough to dampen her spirits.

“I love this meet,” she said. “The competition is great. It’s as good as it’s going to get around here. It’s fun to be a part of it. The energy here is great. All the best people are here. It’s wonderful to be at SpecTRACKular and a great opportunity”

Fellow Trojan Avery Tucker finished first in the 400-meter with a time of 1:02.67. Also for Centerburg, Abigail Dickhof won the 800-meter in 2:33.64. Taylor Severt (2:36.10) of East Knox was second.

Juliette Lauracuente of Highland placed first in three events. In the long jump, she set a new meet record of 17-8, which also shattered the girls’ record for her school.

In the high jump, Lauracuente soared over the bar at 5-4. She was also part of Highland’s first-place 4x100 relay team along with Makenna Belcher, Brylinn Tuggle and Payton Carpenter, which finished with a time of 51.86. East Knox was second (53.24) in that event with their team of Emily Opfer, Madison Annett, Haleigh Landis and Alexandria Magers.

“I wasn’t expecting to do this well,” Laracuente said. “I was very excited to go up against (Northridge’s) Sydney Koker. She and I are friends, but I haven’t jumped against her before, so it was really good to get that competition going.”

Koker finished second in the high jump at 5-4 and third in the long jump at 16-8.

Olyvia Ashbrook of Northridge was also first in three events. She ran the 100-meter hurdles in 15.90 and the 300-hurdles in 45.54. Finally, Ashbrook anchored the Vikings’ 4x400 team of Hannah Aamodt, Alayna Blake and Stephanie Gilmore, helping them to a first-place time of 4:20.74.

In addition, Northridge got a first-place finish from their 4x200 team of Mia Siegenhaler, Gilmore, Blake and Colette Patti (1:51.82). Mount Vernon’s 4x200 relay team of Marissa Rutter, Alexis Strong, Sara Phillips and Amaris Middleton was second (1:53.59).

Johnstown’s Reece Savage posted a time of 5:16.87 to win the 1,600-meter, and her time of 12:16.79 was first in the 3200 meters. She was also part of the first-place 4x800 relay team along with Ellis Lauren, Landen Davis and Anna Hazelbaker. They finished with a time of 10:25.68.

Fredericktown’s Sydney Wilson cleared nine feet in the girls pole vault — a foot higher than she vaulted in last week’s Fredericktown Invitational — landing her in first place. Utica’s Laura Brubaker (8-6) was second in the event.

Bekah Conrad of Clear Fork was first in the throwing events; tossing the discus 107 feet, 1.75 inches and heaving the shot put 36-1. Mount Vernon’s Stella Bainbridge (102-9.50) and Brooklyn Thayer (90-2.50) were second and third in the discus, respectively. Neveah Williams of Mount Vernon placed second in the shot put with a toss of 34-8.75.

Danville’s top finisher was Alenah Boeshart, who was fourth in the 100-meter, clocking a time of 13.41. Fredericktown’s Ashley Cockrell had a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-hurdles (16.23) and the 300-hurdles (48.29).
