IRVING, Texas – The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) reported on Wednesday that five members of the Kenyon College football program were named to the 2021 NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
The Honor Society is comprised of players from all NCAA divisions who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or better throughout their college careers.
The Kenyon contingent included Alex Brousek, Michael Devine, Nathaniel Jacobson, Chris Nehasil and Michael Picone.
An elite group of 910 players from 255 schools qualified for membership in 2021, the Society’s 15th year. The initiative has now honored 13,077 student-athletes since its inception.
“We are pleased to honor another impressive group of athletes as part of this year’s Hampshire Honor Society,” NFF President and CEO Steve Hatchell said. “For more than a decade, the Hampshire Honor Society has served as a powerful vehicle for schools to recognize their college football players who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically, and we congratulate the schools and each of these young men for their commitment to excellence in all aspects of their lives.”
Brousek, a senior, played along the offensive line for Kenyon and is an international studies and Spanish major. Jacobson, another senior offensive lineman, was one of the Lords’ captains last season. A native of Weston, Connecticut, he played in 19 combined games in 2018 and 2019 while studying economics.
Rounding out Kenyon’s honorees were Devine, Nehasil and Picone, all senior defenders. Devine played in 15 games the previous two seasons and notched 16 total tackles. Nehasil played in the defensive backfield, tallying 132 tackles and six passes defensed in 29 games. Another Lords captain, Picone suited up in 30 games and amassed 212 tackles, 28.5 tackles-for-loss, 10 passes defensed and five blocks. He also registered 13 sacks.
Jon F. Hanson, the chairman and founder of The Hampshire Companies, provided an endowment to launch the NFF Hampshire Honor Society in 2007. He made the contribution as part of his legacy to the organization after serving as NFF chairman from 1994–2006.
Kenyon has had 23 Hampshire honorees in the past four seasons and 57 since the society’s inception.
