Bryar Householder homered and Sam Printz pitched a gem to lead East Knox to a 13-3 win in six innings over Northmor in Knox Morrow Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, April 14, in Howard.
Peyton Lester had an RBI single, Cole DeLaughder followed with a two-run triple and Printz hit an RBI single to stake the Bulldogs (2-7, 1-4) to a 4-0 lead after one inning.
Householder hit a two-run shot in the second inning and East Knox rolled from there.
Printz allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out five in a complete game to get the win for the Bulldogs.
Garrett Corwin had two hits and scored a run to lead the Golden Knights (8-2, 3-2).
Pirates sweep Blue Devils
Cardington rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to beat host Danville 5-3 to complete a sweep in KMAC play on Thursday, April 15.
A day earlier, Avery Harper hit an RBI triple and Trey Brininger followed with a two-run homer, and host Cardington was off to the races. The Pirates parlayed a seven-run first inning into a 17-1 win in five innings over visiting Danville on Wednesday, April 14.
In Thursday’s game, Harper led off the seventh with a triple and scored the tying run on Dillon Minturn’s double. Two batters later, Joe Denney hit a sacrifice fly to give the Pirates the lead, and Kaiden Beach followed with an RBI single to account for the final score.
Danville took a 3-2 in the sixth when Wyatt Weckesser, who singled early in the frame, scored on a passed ball. Weckesser tossed a complete game but suffered the loss for the Devils.
AJ Hill went the distance for Cardington to get the win, striking out six along the way.
In Wednesday’s game, Harper finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs; Hill had three hits, two RBIs and two runs; and Brininger struck out nine in a complete-game win on the mound for the Pirates.
Weckesser had a hit — a double — and drove in a run to lead the Blue Devils (1-9, 0-6).
Highland 4, Fredericktown 1
Blake Jodrey gave up a run early but shut down Fredericktown afterwards to lead Highland to a 4-1 win in KMAC play on Wednesday, April 14, in Sparta.
Jodrey tossed a complete game, allowing one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts for the Fighting Scots (9-0, 5-0).
Ty Hatfield had two hits — including a double — and scored a run, and Lincoln Cunningham went the distance on the mound for the Freddies (6-4, 4-1).
Wooster 11, Mount Vernon 1 (6)
Ethan Laslo worked a bases-loaded walk to give visiting Mount Vernon a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
But it was all Wooster from there in an 11-1 win in five innings in Ohio Cardinal Conference play on Wednesday, April 14.
Owynn Gleason led off the game with a double and scored the only run for the Yellow Jackets (6-4, 4-2).
Blake Bowen went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs; and Elisha Steiner struck out six batters over five innings to get the win for the Generals.
Centerburg 13, Mount Gilead 1 (6)
Trey Kendrick provided the offense and Joe Tepper kept host Mount Gilead at bay, leading Centerburg to a 13-1 win in five innings in KMAC play on Wednesday, April 14.
Kendrick went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, and Tepper struck out eight and allowed one unearned run over five innings to get the win on the mound for the Trojans (7-4, 4-1).
Graham Sherbourne had a hit and a run to lead MG (8-3, 2-3).
Utica 22, Zanesville 6 (5)
Host Utica put up an 11-run first inning and cruised to a 22-6 win in five innings over Zanesville in Licking County League play on Wednesday, April 14, at American Legion Post 92 Field.
Josh Dillon homered among three hits, four RBIs and three runs to lead the way. He also picked up the win for Utica (4-6, 2-2) on the mound.
Fredericktown 17, East Knox 3 (5)
Trevor Jobes drove in four runs during a 13-run fourth inning to help Fredericktown blow the game open en route to a 17-3 win over host East Knox in KMAC play on Tuesday, April 13, in Howard.
Ty Hatfield went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs and got the win on the mound for the Freddies.
Weston Melick drove in two runs on one hit to lead the Bulldogs.
Centerburg 26, Danville 0 (5)
Host Centerburg ran off nine runs in the first inning and rolled to a 23-0 win in five innings over Danville in KMAC play on Wednesday, April 14.
Griffin Collins tossed a no-hitter and allowed just one walk while striking out five; and Dalton Hall had three hits, four runs and four RBIs to lead the Trojans.
Wooster 6, Mount Vernon 2
Chris Franks’ two-run single and Jack Williams’ RBI single in the first inning gave Wooster all the runs it needed in a 6-2 win at Mount Vernon in OCC play on Tuesday, April 13.
Franks got the win on the mound on the strength of nine strikeouts over five innings of work.
Gleason and Logan Trace each had a hit and an RBI for the Jackets.
