MOUNT VERNON – John J. Kerin passed away on March 20, 2021, at the age of 66. He was in professional care following complications resulting from cancer surgery.
John was born in Mount Vernon and moved to the Cleveland area while still in high school. After finishing school, he returned to Mount Vernon for a brief period and then moved back to Cleveland in 1975. He became a journeyman machinist and remained in the Cleveland area until his death.
John will be remembered for his honesty, great sense of humor and loyalty to his friends. He enjoyed his Harley-Davidson and ’60s muscle car. He was quick to smile, laugh and offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his 29-year partner in life, Patty Akers of Cleveland; his son, John Jr. of Mount Vernon; his daughter, Lori Stehulak of Madison; and his three brothers, Dan Walton (Mount Vernon), David Kerin (Arroyo Grande, California) and Charles Kerin (Conway, South Carolina).
John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lorraine Kerin, who resided in Mount Vernon before moving to Rocky River, Ohio, in 1971.
Services will be private.
