GAMBIER – Betty Jo Morrison-Mizer, 73, of Gambier, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. She was born on June 4, 1947, in Newark to the late Arthur and Grace (Hughes) Fisher.
Betty Jo was employed for over 41 years at Kenyon College in food service. She was an award-winning competitive baker and won many awards throughout her career at fairs and festivals in Ohio. Betty Jo was a member of the Mount Vernon Lions Club since 1985 and was very active with Operation Christmas Child. She participated in Relay for Life since 2008. Betty Jo enjoyed traveling with her husband to fairs, festivals and music concerts. She was also a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, John Mizer; three stepdaughters and one stepson from her first marriage to Paul Morrison; two stepsons from her current marriage to John Mizer; 28 grandchildren; and her feline companions.
In addition to her parents, Betty Jo was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Morrison.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Wildermuth officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
