GAMBIER – David Strome, 70, of Peachtree City, Georgia, and formerly of Gambier, died on Feb. 2, 2021, at his home after a brief illness.

David was born in New Jersey on Aug. 22, 1950, and raised in Gambier. He graduated from Kenyon College in 1972 and moved to New York in 1974 to accept a grant for the Independent Study program of the Whitney Museum of American Art. He later received an MFA in Painting from Hunter College, CUNY.

David lived in New York and Brooklyn for nearly 40 years pursuing a career as an artist and art restorer. He moved to Peachtree City in 2013 to buy his mother’s house and to be near his sisters and their families.

He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Strome (partner Ben Drake) and Margaret (Martin) Davisson; nephews, Ian Davisson and Thomas Davisson; niece, Emily Christiansen; and two great-nieces, Lauren and Kaylin.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Nadene Lord and Thomas Strome.

David’s family will gather for a remembrance in the near future. No other services are planned.
