Allyn Christine Brown, 69, of California, PA, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021.
She was born Tuesday, June 5, 1951, in Nelsonville, a daughter of the late William and Esther (Keels) Smith. In addition to her parents, Allyn was preceded in death by a brother, John Smith.
She graduated from Ohio University in 1974 with a B.S. in Education. She made an impact on many lives throughout her teaching career. As a coach’s wife she was a second mom to many. For many years she enjoyed playing tennis and spending time watching all of her children’s sporting events.
She was the captain of the team in her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 46 years, William Brown; son and daughter-in-law, William Aaron (Elisabeth) Brown, of Rostraver Township, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Kerra (Kevin) Clinedinst, of Mount Vernon; sister and brother-in-law, Jan Smith-Cox (Charlie), of Virginia; and sister Nancy Smith (Steve Pierson), of Athens. She was also survived by her nine grandchildren who were her world, Jalen, Elijah, Kingston, Aubrey, Kamille, Kye, Kue, Sydney and Jordyn.
Friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, PA, on Sunday, Feb. 14, from 5- 7 p.m.
Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with her sister-in-law, Patricia Smith officiating.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of her family.
