Carter Jones scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half to help the host Centerburg boys basketball team keep control of the game, defeating Highland 55-47 in Knox Morrow Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Levi Houck had 11 points, Mckinnon Mead added eight points and Colton Martin chipped in seven points for the Trojans (14-2, 12-0), who led 13-10 after one quarter and added on from there.

Rider Minnick led the Fighting Scots (5-14, 3-10) with 14 points and Jordan Bellamy had 11 points.

Northmor 63, Danville 50

Grant Bentley buried six of Northmor’s 11 3-pointers to help the Golden Knights blow past Danville 63-50 in KMAC play on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Bentley scored a game-best 21 points, Graesin Cass had 17 points and Logan Mariotti added 11 points on the strength of three 3s for the Knights (3-15, 2-10), who won the second half 49-20 to snap a nine-game losing streak.

Walker Weckesser scored 12 points and Wyatt Weckesser added 10 points for the Blue Devils (1-17, 0-11).

Heath 79, Utica 43

Brandon McLaughlin scored 14 of his 21 points in the first half as host Heath built a 40-17 lead at the break and cruised to a 79-43 win in Licking County League play on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Keylon Williams had 14 points and Reese Huber added 13 points for the Bulldogs (14-2, 12-2), who led 21-7 after one quarter.

Zach Heckman scored 12 points and Seth Cooper added nine points to pace Utica (5-13, 2-10), who won the third quarter 19-9.

Fredericktown 70, Mansfield Christian 47

Clinging to a five-point lead at the break, host Fredericktown blew the game open with an 18-4 third quarter and rolled to a 70-47 non-league win on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Lincoln Cunningham poured in 18 points, Ty Hatfield hit three 3s and scored 15 points, Kaid Carpenter had 14 points and Caleb Sheriff added 10 points to pace the Freddies (18-1).

Amaar Davis scored 16 points and Logan Cyphers added 14 points for the Flames (7-15).

Loudonville 67, East Knox 62

Shane Knepp scored 10 of his 16 points in the third quarter to help East Knox whittle its deficit down to one, but host Loudonville made enough free throws in the fourth quarter to withstand the Bulldogs in a 67-62 win in non-league play on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Jacob Gessner poured in 33 points on the strength of seven 3-pointers, Chuck Ganson added 12 points and Logan Huffman chipped in 11 points to lead the Redbirds (9-9), who went 11 for 13 at the line in the fourth quarter to salt the game away.

Peyton Lester scored 18 points and Weston Melick had 14 points for the Bulldogs (10-8), who trailed 32-25 at the half before outscoring the Redbirds 21-15 in the third quarter.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Emma West went for 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Highland to a 54-36 win at Utica in non-league play on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

West did all of her scoring in the first three quarters as the Fighting Scots (8-13) built a 16-8 lead after one quarter, a 33-16 advantage at the break and led 43-25 after three frames.

Guinevere Jackson added nine points for Highland, which has won three consecutive games.

Shawna Blake led Utica (1-21) with 19 points.
