MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Technical Center has launched a 10-month training program for maintenance technicians and is accepting applications ahead of the September start date.

The Maintenance Technician program is designed to prepare learners for entry-level industrial- and facility maintenance positions. The program includes practical, hands-on training in a skills lab, allowing students to gain experience in basic mechanical-, hydraulic-, pneumatic-, electrical- and process control systems, as well as maintenance welding and piping.  

The program will offer 640 hours of training and will meet from 5-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The program starts Sept. 1, 2021, and ends June 9, 2022.

Registrants must submit a high school- or GED transcript or diploma, a WorkKeys Skills Assessment and completed KTC registration form/fee. Prospective students must also complete an interview with the coordinator, Mike Creighton (mcreighton@knoxcc.org).
