MOUNT VERNON – Leora P. Schaefer, 97, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at Country Club Care Center. She was born on Nov. 15, 1923, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Earl J. and Esther E. (Phillips) Robinson.
Leora was a 1941 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and retired after 44 years, four months and four days as a teller for First Knox National Bank. She was a member of Ann Hill Chapter #81 Order of the Eastern Star. Leora loved her animals, especially horses and cats.
She is survived by a stepson, N. David Schaefer of Mansfield, her feline companion, Malachi; and her wonderful caretakers, Karen Johnson, Rebecca Miller, Theresa Snelling and Nancy Weiss.
Besides her parents, Leora was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Schaefer.
A private burial will take place in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
