MOUNT VERNON – If you’re looking for a fabulous spot to host your wedding this year, the Mount Vernon area has multiple locations that could fit the bill. From rustic barns with undeniable charm to treehouses, there are many options to choose from.

The Woodward Opera House, 107 S. Main St., Mount Vernon, Ohio

The Woodward offers a completely different vibe from most other venues. Built in the mid-1800s, this is the oldest authentic 19th-century theater in the U.S. It could be a completely breathtaking wedding locale. The balcony and main floor offer several options for seating and ceremony, and there is flexibility in layouts.

Knox Memorial Theater and Ballroom, 112 E. High St., Mount Vernon, Ohio

The Memorial Ballroom is perfect for weddings, with classical architecture, soaring ceilings and giant windows. You’ll have seating for up to 125 guests and access to the Poker Room Lounge, which is perfect for a bridal dressing room or even a quiet moment between the newly married before they join a party. Chairs and tables for guests, buffet and cocktail uses are included in the rental, as is the catering kitchen. Bar services and décor can be utilized as well. The Knox Memorial Ballroom began construction on Oct. 23, 1923, and was ready for public use on Feb. 4, 1926.

Ariel-Foundation Park, South Norton St., Mount Vernon, Ohio

The park is a 250-acre property with plenty of spaces that could create gorgeous outdoor weddings and plenty of memories. There are numerous options, like the Schnormeier Event Center, a 17,000-square-foot structure that can accommodate up to 2,000 guests. You might even be able to create a special memory by lighting the Rastin Tower for the night — in your color of choice.

The Mohicans Treehouse Resort and Wedding Venue; 23164 Vess Road; Glenmont, Ohio

In Glenmont, The Mohicans Treehouse Resort and Wedding Venue is a breathtaking space with a rustic, vintage feel, and the opportunity to stay in a treehouse. How many times can someone say that they were able to do that during a wedding they attended?

The barn is a two-story timber-frame building with features that will help to make your big day unforgettable. A solid oak staircase leads to an upper-level mezzanine and second-story deck; while the space also has a large, versatile floor plan. The accommodations for guests and the wedding party are sure to be memorable. Attendees have a choice of treehouses or cabins on the 75-acre property, and they’re fun. There are nine treehouses, including two designed by Treehouse Masters star and treehouse designer Peter Nelson. There are six cabins.

The Meadowood; 4824 Rule Road; Bellville, Ohio

The Meadowood is situated in Richland County, and there is more than 50 acres of property. The barn has features that will take a couple’s breath away (not to mention the wedding attendees). The barn features 200-year-old exposed timber and a 20-foot-tall stone fireplace; both are conversation pieces. The interior of the barn will be decorated with white string lights, and that fireplace may be lit after dark should a couple choose. There is a rustic bar with beverage coolers and two beer taps, although a couple must hire a bartender if they bring in their own alcohol. They can also select the caterer of their choice. There are three bathrooms in the complex that are available for use during the event.

The Meadowood is owned by Cody and Sarah Gerhardt, who purchased the venue in 2017. It can accommodate up to 175 guests for indoor or outdoor events. And this space is just an hour from Cleveland and Columbus. It’s even closer to Mansfield.

Irongate Wedding Venue and Equestrian Center; 12298 Croton Road; Croton, Ohio

The Irongate Equestrian Center is a combination wedding venue and equestrian center on 105 acres. The 60,000-square-foot barn is a fantastic place for a wedding ceremony, and it features scenic balconies and suites for the wedding party upstairs from the openness of the barn. Wedding-planning services and a bar package are also available at the venue.

You can have your wedding in that gorgeous barn, on the picturesque outdoor bridge or in the pasture setting. No matter which space you choose, these areas are fabulous for photo opportunities. This event locale is also the site of an elite horse training center: the Irongate Quarter Horses facility. And not only that, there are the Chestnut Den and Perlino Bar, which are ideal for pre-dinner cocktail parties.
