MOUNT VERNON – Hospice of Knox County, a member of Hospice of North Central Ohio, hosted its first annual Tree of Hope at its Knox County office as a virtual event on Monday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m.

The event took place in lieu of their traditional indoor Memory Tree lighting. A brief, meaningful ceremony was held to honor and remember loved ones who have died. An evergreen tree on the property was decorated with a star designed and donated by Kepple Sheet Metal. The celebration included music and words in remembrance of loved ones. The tree will remain lit throughout the holiday season, in quiet remembrance of those who are no longer here. A video of the event can be found on the hospice's Facebook page (Hospice of Knox County) or on YouTube.

The hospice extended a special Thank You to Theodore Schnormeier for sponsoring the event; along with Kepple Sheet Metal for their in-kind donation of the star and Brent Lasater of Lasater Funeral Homes for making and providing the memorial candles.

"We hope that this service provided an opportunity for viewers to pause and reflect on those loved ones that have passed," Kathy Wantland said. Anyone needing extra support with their loss is encouraged to reach out to the Hospice of Knox County.
