MOUNT VERNON – Harry Shurman Wimer, 66, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday morning, Dec. 6, 2020, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on Oct. 25, 1954, in Columbus, to the late Harry and Dorothy (Pearson) Wimer.

Harry was a very active member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Mount Vernon; where he helped with the Wednesday night kids program, drove a van for the church, was the head of Senior’s Day and helped run the food pantry. He always kept the church clean and served wherever else he was needed — Harry’s car was almost always at church. He loved spending time with family and the grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (McManaway) Wimer; sons, Patrick (Cindy) McManaway of Mount Vernon, Charles (Jennifer) Moran of Grover Hill, James (Melinda) Moran of Mount Vernon and David (Missy) Harding of Mount Vernon; daughter, Susan Harding of Mount Vernon; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Moran of Mount Vernon; sister, Sue (Scott) McArthur of Columbus; brothers, Toral (Bobbie Jo) Wimer of Logan and Harold (Amy) Wimer of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by a son, William Moran; a daughter, Melissa Moran; and a granddaughter, Sarah Joy Moran.

The family will have a celebration of life service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1635 Old Delaware Road, Mount Vernon. Due to the current health situation, masks will be required and social distancing will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Junior Youth or Senior’s Day at the Apostolic Christian Church.
