MOUNT VERNON – Trina G. Scott, 62, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday morning, Dec. 9, 2020, at her home. She was born in Huntington, W.Va., on Oct. 4, 1958, to the late William and Sharon (Weatherford) Overly.
Trina was a member of Covenant Church in Mount Vernon. She graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She worked for the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services for the past 14 years. Trina enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Scott, whom she married on Dec. 10, 2005; son, Kevin White, and his companion of many years, Pia of San Francisco; stepson, Wayne (Stacie) Scott of Centerburg; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Paul (Candice) Overly of Cincinnati, Tim (Tina) Overly of Howard, Jesse (Lisa) Overly of Mount Vernon and Bob (Heather) Overly of Phoenix; sister, Shirlee Overly of Phoenix; many nieces and nephews; and her canine companions, Cowboy and Sissy.
In addition to her parents, Trina was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Yantis; and a brother, Jim Overly.
The family will have a private graveside service honoring the life of Trina in Friendship Cemetery near Mount Vernon.
