MOUNT VERNON – Margaret L. “Peggy” Yough, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. She was born on Jan. 7 (her father’s birthday), 1936, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Joseph Owen and Mabel (Quack) Barncord.  

Margaret was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. She was an accomplished bowler in Knox County, winning many tournaments. She also enjoyed pottery, macramé and sewing. She loved traveling and taking care of her dogs. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Cloyd Yough, whom she married on July 22, 1967; her children, Michael (Andrea) Yough of Stillwater, Okla., Brian Yough of Mount Vernon and Laurie (Matt) Kirkpatrick of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie (La Verne) Dugan of Indiana.

Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Becker; and a sister, Sara “Sally” Dauphin.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Dec. 7, beginning at 2 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Pastor Jerry Ernst will be officiating.  

Memorial contributions in Margaret’s name may be made to the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church.
