FREDERICKOTWN – Timothy T. “Nick” Tims, 66, of Fredericktown, passed away on Wednesday morning, Nov. 25, 2020, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on Feb. 13, 1954, in Mount Vernon, to the late Kenneth and Agnes (Kochis) Tims.

Nick graduated in 1972 from Mount Vernon High School. He worked for Flexble in Delaware; Kelsey Hayes in Mount Vernon; and retired from the United States Postal Service with over 20 years of service working at the post offices in Howard, Newark, Danville, and finally in Gambier. After retirement, Nick worked for a few years at G.R. Smith’s in Mount Vernon and was a driver for the Amish in the Fredericktown area.

Nick enjoyed cooking, woodworking and remodeling his home. The last project he completed was a slide to use during trick or treat this year, because he did not want to disappoint the children of Fredericktown who would not receive their treat of Kool-Aid packets or ramen noodles. Nick was always there to lend a helping hand no matter what the need, and he never met a stranger. Before Google, Nick’s children had “Ask Dad,” because he was a wealth of knowledge.

He is survived by his children, Amber Tims-Beach and Jared Tims of Fredericktown; grandson, Issac Beach of Fredericktown; sisters, Terri Shanyfelt of Fredericktown and Peggy Claiborne of Hixson, Tenn.; a brother, Joe Miller of Hixson, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by an infant sister, Bonnie Jean; his stepmother, Helen Moxley Tims; a sister, Sandra (Vance Brumbly) Moran; and a nephew, James Dean Moran Jr.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020, at Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon; where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery near Mount Vernon. Due to the current health situation, facial coverings are required and social distancing will be observed. A livestream of the funeral service will be available on the funeral home’s Facebook page at https://facebook.com/FlowersSFH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Interchurch Social Services, 306 West Gambier St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050, in Nick’s memory.
