MOUNT VERNON – Barbara A. Lucas, 81, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday afternoon, Nov. 13, 2020, at the Selma Markowitz Inpatient Care Center in Newark. She was born on April 28, 1939, in Mount Vernon, to the late Dwight D. and Evelyn M. (Parsons) Harmon.
Barbara was an avid gardener and cook. She always made sure that you had something to eat when you came for a visit. She retired from Kenyon College where she worked in Campus Food Service. After retirement, she started to look after and help her elderly friends with their daily needs.
She is survived by her children, Connie (Mark) Brill of Denville, N.J., Cindy (Steve) Burgett of Howard, James (Carol) Tanner of Mount Vernon, Jon (Karen) Tanner of Walhonding and Jeffrey Tanner; grandchildren, Tristan Tanner, April Auskings, Jeremy (Courtney) Auskings, Allison Trikouros, Cole (Laura) Burgett, Weylin Burgett and Travis Burgett; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Rine of Mount Vernon; and a brother, Donald (Norene) Harmon of Sun City, Ariz.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a son, Doug Tanner; and a grandson, Tony Tanner.
In following with Barbara’s wish, there will be no services.
