Due to COVID-19, the Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Choral Union is postponing their performance of Handel's "Messiah".

The annual performance, however, is being substituted with the 2019 performance online through the entire month of December.

There will be a message from Professor of Music and Choral Union Director Dr. Robert Tocheff and Vice President for University Relations the Rev. James Smith during the on-demand presentation of the performance.

"We understand that Handel's "Messiah" ushers in the Christmas season for many," Tocheff said. "We want to provide this gift to the community as we all prepare to celebrate the coming of our King of kings and Lord of lords."

Despite the disappointment for many that the live event will not be possible, the abundance of care being directed to ensuring public safety is appreciated. The on-demand performance should be a delight to many who will have the opportunity to tune in for the choral masterpiece.
