UPDATE: The City of Mount Vernon has announced that the issued boil advisory will be active until at least 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5.
A boil advisory is in effect for all of Mount Vernon until at least late Thursday, Nov. 4.
The City of Mount Vernon issued the announcement following a citywide water disruption earlier today.
“Water Service Update: System pressure should be restored with minimal variation,” the city said in a release. “A boil advisory is now issued for ALL City of Mount Vernon customers until further notice. Due to the size of the issued area, this advisory will likely continue into Thursday afternoon. We will provide updates to the situation as they become available. Thank you for your cooperation at this time.”
The city notified residents of a water outage earlier in the day, but provided no other information.
“Water Service Disruption to ALL City of Mount Vernon water customers,” the city posted at the time.
This is the second time in a little over two weeks the city has had a boil advisory.
The last incident, on Oct. 14, a water main break in downtown caused a three-day boil advisory.
Mount Vernon News will release more information as it becomes available.
