MOUNT VERNON – William Robert “Bob” Hatfield, 90, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 9, 1930, in Mount Vernon, the son of Clyde and Valura (Bown) Hatfield.

Bob owned and operated Bob Hatfield Realty in Mount Vernon, where he worked as a broker and appraiser for over 30 years.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Directors. He belonged to and served on many boards in the community, including the Knox County Landlord’s Association, past president of the local Board of Realtors, Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army and Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

Bob also loved to sing and was a member of the Four Encores Quartet, the Cooper Bessemer Chorus and the Mount Vernon Players. 

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Swingley Hatfield; his son, Markley (Violeta) Hatfield of Mount Vernon; and his brother, Phillip (Melody) Hatfield of Delaware, Ohio.

Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Faye Hatfield; and his sister, Helen Henry.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 23, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050; where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Bill Barton will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be made to the Salvation Army.
