How to create a tidy, effective charging station

Keeping your devices charged and ready to go is critical, especially when your work depends on communication or your children need their devices for school. Charging cables and electrical outlets are notoriously unattractive however and can leave any corner of the house feeling incredibly cluttered. There is another way, though, which can leave your devices fully powered up, without leaving your home a mess.

Before doing anything else to organize your charging station, it is a good idea to round up all of your devices and ensure that you have enough charging slots for a good percentage of your electronics. Next, find a convenient corner of the house for the charging station. Ideally, this will be an easily accessible spot in the home which is free from water and activity — to prevent accidents and broken devices.

Once you have taken stock of all the devices and an ideal location has been found, it is time to begin planning the charging station.

For the smaller home with limited counter space, it is imperative that as minimal clutter as possible is taking up room. In instances such as this, a pull out charging drawer can be a much-needed solution. While these are fairly pricey to install, they offer reliability and peace of mind when it comes to taking care of valuable electronics.

If you prefer to have your devices out in the open, it can be best to have an exposed charging station. More affordable and easier to install than a charging drawer, these provide easy storage and charging abilities and the popularity of these items means that you will have your pick of design.

For perhaps the most sleek charging option available, the Wireless Pad from Nimble allows you to charge two phones at once and is constructed from materials that you can feel good about. Fairly affordable, at about $50 per pad, most households can afford to buy a couple easily. Additionally, the simplicity of use means that these make an ideal charging solution throughout the home. Use one in the common space of the house and one in each bedroom.

If you only need charging spots for phones, the Gwen Charging Station is an attractive option. Allowing phones to charge while being supported in a partially upright position also means that you can easily read off a recipe, directions or even an article while it is charging.

Finally, for a little of everything, a docking station from Loma Living offers a resting place for all of your smart devices, as well as charging capabilities for your phone and Apple Watch. It also looks great and will prevent your workspace from becoming a mess of cables.
