Knox Rocks is partnering with the Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival Committee to provide 200 FREE pumpkins for kids under age 16 to decorate as part of their Pumpkin Carving & Decorating Show! Take a free pumpkin, decorate it, return it and it will be displayed at Ariel Foundation Park as part of their Halloween Hootenanny on Oct. 24.

Sunday, Oct. 11

The Music Department at Mount Vernon Nazarene University will perform a fall concert in the Schnormeier Event Center at Ariel-Foundation Park. The concert will include a wide variety of music featuring the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Flute Choir, Jazz Band, Goliards Chamber Choir, Treble Singers Women’s Choir and Collegians Chorale. Instrumental ensemble directors are Dr. John Packard, Jennifer Packard and Dr. Isaac Winland. Choral directors are Dr. Robert Tocheff, Elizabeth Barrett and Sabina Anderson. Audience members in the Event Center will be required to wear masks. Weather permitting, guests are also welcome to bring a lawn chair and sit outside the Event Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The Exchange Club of Mount Vernon and Knox County, e-Merge Real Estate and other partners bring the Healing Field “Honoring Heroes in Our Lives” to Knox County once again. 500 American flags will be placed in perfect symmetry for community viewing. The Teen Writing Program Virtual Generative Workshop partners with Breakbread Literacy for a series of writing workshops for young writers aged 13 to 19 in grades 7-12. KSAAT, in partnership with our local law enforcement agencies, is pleased to sponsor this collection day for Knox County residents to dispose of their expired, unused or unwanted prescription medications safely. Come meet some of the Monroe Township Fire Department personnel and enjoy a chicken dinner. The suggested donation is $10 for an adult meal and $5 for a kids' meal. Meals include chicken, potato salad, baked beans, roll and a cookie. Kids, come in your Halloween costume and get a treat bag. Due to COVID-19, we are asking that you stay in your vehicle. We will come to take your order and deliver it to you. All of our personnel will be wearing masks and gloves for your protection and ours. We will be accepting cash and credit/debit card.
