FREDERICKTOWN — Fredericktown Village Council wrapped up a few items in a short council meeting Monday.
Council passed an emergency ordinance adjusting the line items in the water funds. The ordinance transferred $48,000 from the Capital Overlay (Plant) account to Capital Overlay (System) account. It will be used to pay for the Gifford-Watson Water Loop project and to clean well No. 2. Village Administrator Bruce Snell said the village cleans one of the three wells per year in an effort to balance out the payments. Each well takes $15,000 to $20,000 to clean.
He also noted the storm sewer separation project is wrapping up. Pipe and structures have been installed, concrete aprons, curbs and catch basins have nearly been completed.
“Once completed, this project will allow us to intercept stormwater on Taylor Street and Second Street, sending it to the Kokosing River as opposed to sending stormwater to the WWTP for costly treatment,” Snell stated in the report. “This project will also further assist in preventing our WWTP from being over capacity during hard rains.”
Councilman Bill Van Nostrand reported the Christmas Walk will be Dec. 7 from 3-7 p.m. in the village.
Council also approved an ordinance waiving the residency requirement for fiscal officer Suzan Graves.
Police Chief Kyle Johnson reported to council that the second round of the EMA local business mitigation plan will be discussed Nov. 26, at 8 a.m. at the Kokosing Training Center.
The next council meeting will be Monday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. A public records hearing will precede the meeting at 6:45 p.m.
