MOUNT VERNON — Get ready for some chills and spooky fun at the free Halloween Classic Movie Marathon on Saturday, Oct. 26, noon until midnight, at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon.
“What Lies Beneath” will be this year’s watery theme. Put on your favorite costume and enjoy free treats, hot dogs, popcorn and more throughout the program.
After the main library closes at 5 p.m., the entrance at the back parking lot will be open. Security staff will be present. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
The 12-hour marathon will feature the following classic (or destined to be a classic) films to put chills up your spine. Guests are welcome to stay for one movie or all six.

•1:30-3 p.m.: “The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms” (1953)
•3:00-5:15 p.m.: “20,000 Leagues Below the Sea” (1954-G)
•5:15-8:30 p.m.: “The Abyss,” Director’s Edition (1989-PG 13)
•8:30-10:30 p.m.: “The Meg” (2018-PG 13)
•10:30-Midnight: “Lake Placid” (1999-R)
