HOWARD — Join the Knox County Park District for the “Observe the Moon” program to be held Oct. 5, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Honey Run Highlands Park located at 10816 Millersburg Road. International Observe the Moon Night is an annual worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation and understanding of our Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration. The annual event connects scientists, educators and lunar enthusiasts from around the world.
The early evening event will include a moon presentation, crafts and activities. After the sun sets OCVN and Richland Astronomical Society member Chad Ruhl will be on hand with telescopes and binoculars, providing guided tours of the Moon, and maybe even a few glimpses of some of our planets or other celestial objects.
Knox County Park District is proud to take part in this year’s International Observe the Moon Night which is sponsored by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission and partners. LRO is managed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
