It’s time to start making plans for the 43rd Fredericktown Tomato Show, Sept. 4-7. This year’s theme is “Strike Up the Band!”
Parade entries are now being accepted online at tomatoshow.com. Entry forms can also be picked up at the Fredericktown Community Library. The deadline for registering in order to be listed on the parade flyer is Aug. 28. However, entries will be accepted up until 12 noon on parade day, Saturday Sept. 7. If you choose to have your entry judged, that will take place at 10 a.m. and will end promptly at 11:30 a.m.
If you are interested in a space at the Arts, Crafts, Antiques & Collectibles on the square Sept. 6 - Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m., contact Robin Dailey at 740-501-3857 or register online.
The premium books will be available at the Fredericktown Community Library, the Mount Vernon News and Mayor’s office as well as at local sponsor locations. They contain details of all the events, contests, entertainment and contact information.
Updates are online and in the premium book for the 5K Race, the Kids’ & Critters’ Parade, the Lip Sync contest and flowers.
Important information can be downloaded for Little Miss Tomato contest online at tomatoshow.com. Registration packets are also available at the Fredericktown Community Library and in the office at Fredericktown Elementary School. The deadline for contest registration is August 24. Missy Curry can be contacted at 740-398-5959 for registration information and questions. She will also make an attempt to coordinate borrowing, buying or selling long red dresses. Contact her as soon as possible if interested in participating in the red dress process.
The Lip Sync Contest will take place Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. Tryouts for those 15 years old and younger will take place at the school commons on Aug. 29, 6 - 7 p.m. and Aug. 31, 10 a.m.-noon. If you have a conflict, questions or wish to pre-register, contact Chris Well at 740-501-1288. Those 16 and older can pre-register or register at 6:30 p.m. the night of the lip sync.
Photography entries will be accepted at Fredericktown Community Library Aug. 31 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Entries are to be 5” by 7” on 8” by 10” white hard cardboard surface, foam board or mounting card stock.
