MOUNT VERNON — A Knox County-based MMA fighter was sentenced to a term of community control in the Knox County Court of Common Pleas after he had submitted a plea of guilty to two assault charges that occurred out of the ring.
Trent D. McCown, 28, of Howard, was sentenced to three years of community control, ordered to pay restitution and to have a drug and alcohol assessment after he submitted guilty pleas to aggravated assault, a felony of the fourth degree, and assault, a misdemeanor of the first degree on Thursday.
The charges stemmed from a incident where he was at the residence of his former significant other and after the woman, her husband and McCown all exchanged words, McCown punched the man in the face and broke his jaw.
McCown was ordered to
pay restitution to the male victim of $7,852.69 for medical expenses and lost wages.
In other cases from Thursday:
Kenneth Hodge, 33, was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison after submitting guilty pleas to counts of obstructing justice, a fourth-degree felony, and having weapons under disability, a felony of the third-degree. He got prison sentences of 11 months and 30 months on each count but they will be served concurrently, so his total time will be 30 months.
Emily Peck, 65, was sentenced to two years of community service after she submitted a plea of guilty to complicity in the commission of a theft, which is a fifth-degree felony. She was also ordered to surrender a vehicle in a forfeiture specification to the complicity count and to serve 115 days in jail — which was completed Thursday.
Darryl Barnes II, 36, changed his not guilty plea to guilty and then, after he allowed to waive a Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI), he was sentenced to 11 months on a count of possession of heroin. The sentence handed down on Thursday is to run consecutively with another 11-month term that Barnes was given on May 10, after he was guilty of trafficking in heroin.
Brandy Reichenbach, 39, changed her pleas from not guilty to guilty in two cases, one of which was a charge of theft and one that was counts of receiving stolen property and illegal use of supplemental nutritional assistance — all fifth-degree felonies. The charges stem from incidents where she had allegedly was found to have had someone else’s quick pay cards and blank checks in her possession in a traffic stop in December 2018 and allegedly had attempted to use an unauthorized credit card two months later.
