Chrispin formally accepted a position as superintendent for the Bucyrus City School District at a special board meeting Saturday. He was awarded a four year contract.
“I felt like it was time for a change for myself and maybe for the district,” said Chrispin. “You’re always looking for the next mountain to climb, the next challenge. We’ve done some amazing things in my six years here at Fredericktown.”
Chrispin cited the increased graduation rate and gains in the Ohio Department of Education’s value added progress rating as two of his proudest accomplishments in the district. “The graduation rate was 84 percent when I came, which is below the state average,” said Chrispin. “We were above the state standard in two years and last year we missed 100 percent by one kid.”
While excited for the challenge and change of pace that a city school district will offer, Chrispin said he will miss his colleagues and the community of Fredericktown.
“I’m grateful for my time in Fredericktown. The people have been nothing but friendly, kind and generous,” said Chrispin. “I worked with an amazing staff for the betterment of kids. I can’t say thanks enough to all of them.”
FLS board president Jim Blanchard said the board is in “the early stages of determining our best action plan for replacing our very recently open superintendant seat. We will do our due diligence to put the best candidate as our next district superindent.”
Blanchard further said he wishes Chrispin “all the best” in his new position.
