MOUNT VERNON — A Warren woman was sentenced to community control on two drug charges in Knox County Common Pleas Court Wednesday.
Elizabeth Dowalter, 39, received a term of two years of community control after she pleaded guilty in September of 2018 on the fifth-degree felony charge of aggravated possession of drugs and possessing drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor.
Dowalter read from a letter and apologized for her actions, which included several arrests in four different counties, and pledged to turn her life around.
Her sentence included 40 days of jail — of which she has already served — along with drug and alcohol monitoring and treatment as well as court costs.
She is awaiting several other hearings in Trumbull, Morrow and Delaware counties, which could result in additional community control or time in a community based correctional facility, or CBCF.
In other hearings Wednesday:
Amanda Berry, 32, withdrew her earlier plea of not guilty and submitted a plea of guilty on the charge of tampering with evidence, a felony of the third degree.
She possessed meth and after her arrest, she tried to destroy the drugs while sitting in the patrol car while waiting for transport, according to court records.
Berry’s other charges, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and illegal use of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, were dismissed. Her sentencing will be May 16.
Bradlee Neitzelt, 27, changed his earlier plea from not guilty to guilty on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation will be done and he will be sentenced on May 16.
