MOUNT VERNON — Two people are dead after an apparent murder/suicide in Knox County on Saturday.

The bodies of Barbara Darling, 66, and Marion Darling, 71, were found in a house in the 15000 block of Old Mansfield Road after a welfare check on Saturday night.

According to statements in a 911 call, family members were concerned about the residents and notified the owner of the house, who let them in. Once they gained access, they discovered the bodies. Guns were found on the floor, according to statements in the call.

Preliminary autopsy reports revealed that both Barbara and Marion died from gunshot wounds and full autopsies were started on both Monday, according to Knox County Coroner Dr. Jennifer Ogle.

The final results will be available in roughly six to eight weeks once the toxicology report is completed, Ogle said.
