The Loudonville girls’ basketball team started off the year 2-0, with the win over Mount Gilead a big one as the Indians were last year’s KMAC champions.

The Mount Gilead girls’ basketball team’s defense of the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC) title started off strong, with the Indians tromping the Galion Tigers 61-25 on opening night in non- conference action.

The Knox Morrow Athletic Conference released their All-KMAC football selections for 2023. The conference includes Cardington-Lincoln, Centerburg, East Knox, Fredericktown, Mount Gilead, Loudonville and Northmor.

Will Baker and the Mount Gilead boys’ cross country team had an outstanding showing at the Division 3 state meet on Nov. 4 at Fortress Obetz, with Baker placing fourth and the Indians narrowly missing the state title as runners up.

The Mount Gilead boys’ cross country team are Division 3 regional champions led by Will Baker and Parker Bartlett who finished third and sixth respectively in the Oct. 28 race.

Cardington-Lincoln (12-10, 8-4) went 2-0 last week in volleyball action, led by Autumn Holt with 24 kills and Abby Ufferman with 76 assists over the two matches.

Walker Weckesser led Danville (9-0, 6-0) to another big win to stay undefeated, throwing for three touchdowns in a 53-20 win over KMAC rival Mount Gilead (2-7, 0-6) on Friday night.

Fredericktown (16-3, 11-0) is leading the KMAC as the season winds down, and last week the Freddies remained hot with a pair of sweeps over conference foes Mount Gilead (0-19, 0-11) and Northmor (11-8, 6-5), with setter Julia Partington stuffing the stat sheet.

The undefeated Danville Blue Devils and Mount Gilead Indians face off in KMAC action on Friday night under the lights.

East Knox (5-13, 4-8) took on Mount Gilead (0-19, 0-12) on Thursday, and made quick work of the KMAC rival Indians in a 3-0 sweep.

Northmor (6-2, 4-1) is getting hot at just the right time with the regular season winding down, with the Golden Knights winning their third straight game 31-3 over KMAC rival Mount Gilead (2-6, 0-5), who have lost five straight.

The Mount Gilead volleyball team had a tough season last year, going 2-17 and 0-10 in KMAC play, while losing the final 12 games of the season. The Indians a core group of seniors last year and look to rebuild with a young team that is ambitious and coachable.

Mount Gilead's football program has tasted success and it tastes great. The Indians rebounded from a rough 2021, going 0-7 in KMAC and 2-8 overall, to finish 6-5 and 4-3 in KMAC in 2022.

The members of the Central District Baseball Coaches Association (CDBCA) selected the top high school baseball players from the area and invited them to play in all-star games Tuesday, June 6, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Many schools hold individual college commitment signings for their student-athletes, but on May 12, Mount Gilead High School held an event that showcased nine of their finest, committing to further their academic and athletic careers at institutions of higher education.

After a couple of seasons in which Mount Gilead finished near the bottom of the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC) baseball standings, Coach Mark Kennon is firing up his team with a strong belief system, hoping that helps them turn the corner and be more competitive in the wins-losses columns this year.

The Mount Gilead (MG) Indians are coming off a rough season on the softball diamond in which they failed to win a KMAC matchup and went 6-12 overall, and while the team could have some bumps in the road due to lack of team experience, MG softball coach Morgan Dettra hopes that her team can be competitive and improve as the season progresses.
