Fredericktown will host its annual National Night Out Celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Merrin Park, highlighting police‑community partnerships, neighborhood engagement, and public safety awareness.
The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 30 Burgett Street and is organized by the Fredericktown Police Department. Activities include live music by The Shuman Band, food trucks, a car show, and interactive displays featuring police, fire, EMS, SWAT, and the Mobile Command Unit. Weather permitting, a medical helicopter will land in the park, adding a dramatic and educational highlight to the evening. The Knox County 911 Center and Knox County EMA will also be on site to connect with residents.
National Night Out is a nationwide initiative designed to strengthen ties between law enforcement and residents. Fredericktown’s program combines entertainment with public safety outreach, offering families a chance to meet officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel in a relaxed setting.
“Join us for the 2026 National Night Out hosted by the Fredericktown Police Department — a fun, family-friendly evening to connect with neighbors and local first responders,” the Fredericktown Police Department announced.
The car show will feature trophies awarded at 8 p.m., with three First Responder’s Choice Awards. All makes, models, and years are welcome, and participants will receive free dash plaques. There is no entry fee, making the competition accessible to all enthusiasts.
Awards will recognize standout vehicles, adding a competitive element to the evening’s activities.
Additional highlights include food trucks offering a variety of options and live music from The Shuman Band to create a festive atmosphere. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and relax on the grass while enjoying the performance.
