PBJ Connections will host two mindfulness‑based workshops in Pataskala this July, offering participants opportunities to reconnect with nature, deepen self‑awareness and learn from equine‑guided experiences.
The workshops will take place at PBJ Dressage, 9800 Jug St. NW in Pataskala, with the first session scheduled for Saturday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the second on Saturday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The July 18 workshop invites participants to explore mindfulness through the presence and behavior of horses, which naturally live in the moment and respond authentically to their environment. The session focuses on curiosity, emotional awareness, and understanding the wandering mind in both humans and horses. Facilitators will guide attendees in creating a kind, nonjudgmental environment for themselves, their horses, and others. Concepts from the Eagala model will be incorporated to support self‑awareness, though no prior Eagala experience is required.
Participants should dress for outdoor activities and wear closed‑toe shoes. The workshop is held rain or shine, with indoor spaces available. Attendees are asked to bring their own lunch, a refillable water bottle and sun protection. No horseback riding is involved. The session will be led by Holly Jedlicka, LISW‑S, and Allana Salmon. Cost is $100 per participant or $130 for those seeking Eagala CEUs.
The July 25 workshop, led by Kade Forth, LISW‑S of Catalpa Counseling, centers on reconnecting with nature through guided mindfulness practices. Participants will engage all five senses while exploring the wooded areas of the farm, followed by a creativity exercise using natural materials found on the property. The art created will be returned to the environment, reinforcing themes of connection, playfulness and belonging within nature.
No art or horse experience is necessary, and all are welcome. Attendees should dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for uneven terrain. This workshop also runs rain or shine and does not involve horse handling or horseback riding. The cost is $35.
PBJ Connections provides behavioral health therapy through horses, counseling and nature at its Pataskala equine‑assisted site at 9800 Jug St. NW.
Both workshops offer opportunities to slow down, engage intentionally with the natural world and learn from the unique environment of PBJ Connections’ Pataskala farm.
